We can create etched stainless steel patterns in three main ways: chemical etching, laser etching, and photo etching. Chemical etching uses acid to remove parts of the surface while laser etching burns patterns with a focused beam.

On the other hand, photo etching uses a light sensitive film to mark designs before etching with chemicals. Laser is faster for simple designs but chemical and photo etching give you more detail for complex patterns.

One is electrolytic etching. which uses electricity and a liquid to draw designs on the metal. The next process is acid etching. In this procedure, you can use strong acids & remove parts of the surface so beautiful patterns can be creayed.

Furthermore, photochemical etching is also an option in which you can use a light sensitive layer. Lastly, You can also utilize water jet cutting carefully to add light patterns and then cut the sheet.

Etched stainless steel can be used outdoors because stainless steel naturally fights against any rust chances. Basically you can say the etching process is not changing this protection. However, if you plan to use it in coastal or very wet areas, we advise you to select a higher-grade stainless steel (for example 316).

Hence, by doing this, you achieve extra safety against corrosion. In the end, your etched panels remain clean &fresh in tough conditions of weather as well.

According to our experience, etched stainless steel does not need any special cleaning. You can wipe it with a soft cloth & also with soapyy water so the dust is removed nicely. The textured pattern hides fingerprints and small scratches. Therefore, for instance if you or your customers see this after a long time, it will still look clean.

Moreover, you should try your best to avoid rough scrubbers or harsh cleaners because we think they can damage the surface. So for a fresh look, you can also use a stainless steel cleaner whenever you need it.
